How the CFN Incentive Program Works:

1. Promotes free speech on campus with one of the items listed below (inviting a FIRE speaker, hosting a FIRE screening of "Silencing U," setting up a Free Speech Wall), or by planning other events.

2. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to tell us about it! Send us pictures and a description of what you have been doing, and it might even end up on FIRE's blog.

3. Earn points and prizes throughout the year.

Every time you help promote liberty on campus, you can accumulate points. Accumulate enough points, and you will win prizes. In addition to the top three prizes, active CFN members will be eligible for a number of other prizes and benefits. Although we have listed some of the prizes on our website, we are always expanding our program and are willing to tailor our prizes to fit our student members.

Be sure to claim your 2011-2012 incentive program points by May 18, 2012.

The Point System

Host a FIRE Speaker – 75 points

FIRE staffers are always available to speak on college campuses throughout the semester. If you can successfully coordinate an event through a campus group (or several) or through a campus committee or department, you will be rewarded with 75 points.

Host a Screening of "Silencing U" – 50 points

Many students have never heard about FIRE and are unaware of the deeply troubling problem of censorship on campus. The more people who know the truth about the state of liberty on campus, the more powerful FIRE's fight for reform can be. Organize a showing of FIRE's newest video, "Silencing U," which features five of the worst cases in FIRE history on your campus and earn 50 points.

Build a Free Speech Wall Display – 50 points

One of the most effective tools to your campus about free speech is by hosting a Free Speech Wall display. Organize one on your campus and earn 50 points.

Write an Op-Ed in Your Local or Campus Paper – 25 points

For every unique editorial that you write in your campus or community paper about a FIRE case, you will receive 25 points. Once your editorial is published, send a copy to the Campus Freedom Network and we will record your points.

Recruit a New CFN Member – 5 points

Every time you recruit a new student or faculty member, you will receive 5 points. Direct them to www.thecfn.org/register, and make sure you remind your friends put your name down in the “Reason for Joining” box.

Put a FIRE Widget on Your Blog – 5 points

FIRE's Spotlight and Speech Code of the Month widgets bring attention to speech codes at colleges and universities across the county. If you help FIRE publicize these policies by placing a speech codes widget on your blog or website, the CFN will reward you with 5 points for each widget. To learn more, visit the CFN Widget page.

Show Off Your FIRE T-Shirt! – 5 points

Every CFN member who signs up with the CFN receives a free FIRE t-shirt. As we write in our welcome letter, we encourage you to wear your shirts to advertise your commitment to free speech. In that vein, the CFN would like to encourage every member to send in photos of themselves wearing their t-shirt. You can take the photo in your room, on campus, or anywhere. Be creative with your photo. Every student who sends in their photo will receive 5 points in the CFN incentive program. E-mail your photos to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will post the photos online to show off our great members.

Support FIRE Online – 1 point

Support FIRE online by "liking" FIRE's Facebook page, following FIRE's Twitter account, or subscribing to FIRE's YouTube channel, and earn 1 point.
